I am presently editing a book for a lecturer (and the Associate Dean) of Imperial College Business School.

I have 25 years of business writing experience, bolstered by the completion of an Introductory Certification Course in Copywriting at City, University of London in 2023; I was accepted into the International Association of Professional Writers and Editors in the same year. This is underpinned by my having become an Alumnus of the Novel Writing Certificate course at City University in 2011.

I first published in October 1999, during my first job, in a magazine entitled  ‘Mathematics Today’ with an article entitled ‘Kumon: From Counting to Calculus,’ describing an after-hours system for reinforcing Maths learned at school.

After moving into the investment banking world, guidance from mentors taught me to say more with less, something I mirrored to fine-tune the writing of colleagues.

Subsequently transitioning into the charity and fundraising sector, my writing approach changed: the marketing force of language in the fast world of investment banking was replaced by the more textured document writing, required of the longer efforts needed to secure High Net Worth client capital, unrestricted and grant funding.

During the first year of a MA in Core Process Psychotherapy in 2013-14, I was chuffed that my tutor and the founder of the Karuna Institute in Devon described my capacity to articulate complex and subtle experiential levels as extraordinary.

Neil responded well to my written feedback to pare down and simplify occasionally turgid business writing efforts. It pleases me much that his language has not lost its vibrancy – with expression disciplined and containing a renewed focus on economy, or extemporaneity, when needs be.

Matthew Kirkby, Ex. Senior Banker, ABN AMRO, CIMB, RBS, HSBC

‘Ever since I’ve known Neil, he has been an avid and indefatigable writer. In the past, his focus was on creative writing, and he developed a distinctive style to express his narrative and ideas. More recently that style has evolved to meet the requirements of business writing. It is sparser, clearer, and more linear – well-suited to formal and informal business correspondence.’

Shelley Gregory-Jones, Head of Fundraising at Allia Future Business – Venture Support

‘Neil’s visionary creativity and artistic insight is matched by his strong business acumen and clear thinking. It’s a rare and winning combination.’
